During the summer of 2021/2022 Luke completed a three month internship with Jetstar. During this time Luke engaged with key stakeholders to upgrade the intranet used within the engineering department. He was able to successfully deliver imrpovements to various sections of the site through careful analysis of page usage data. Luke also developed a system to generate QR-codes automatically for files to improve access to commonly used documents.
Luke worked as a part of a team to perform a detailed finite element analysis on a road sign to determine whether it would meet the requirements of three different loading conditions. Luke worked on the 3D modelling, mesh studies, result validation and discussion of the improvements to the structure. This resulted in a report that thoroughly analysised the structure with meaningful and implementable recommendations made to the client.
In 2021 Luke worked in a team of five students designing an aircraft configuration to meet a set of customer requirements. The outcome of this project was an aircraft configuration that could carry 350 passengers over a distance of 8000 nautical miles. Luke was an integral part of the team acting as project manager, ensuring that all tasks in the complex design process were completed on time and to a high standard.
In 2019 Luke worked in a group of five students to design and build a micro air vehicle (MAV). The final MAV met all performance requirements including flying through a 2x2m zone, meeting turn requirements and dropping a payload in a specified zone.
